Critique and Top Four

At first the group said I did not have very many large circles and then they flipped and said I had a large variety of the size of the circles.  Soon after they said I had a wide array (fancy word choice) the number circles.  Though as much as they complemented my variety in the number and size of circles, the top four that they picked for me had a very little amount of range in the size and number of circles used.  Half of the ones they picked for my top four had had either the large/small circle size while the other half had the medium/small circle size, and all of the ones they picked for me had either five or six circles.  How ironic.  They also commented on the contrast of circle sizes I used for proximity and similarity and said it made the message of proximity and similarity come across more strongly.  Although they did not directly say it, closure was my weakest part because I was too subtle with my approach, but the ones they did correctly identify as closure they felt had a nice subtle touch. Gotta love irony.  They liked the curves/hooks I used for continuance rather than a straight line or a continual change in circle size. Personally I think the hook that I made for continuance (not shown yet) was better than the one they picked because the one they picked seemed too common and it could also pass for closure because when I see it, I want to put another little dot at the top. I was thoroughly surprised at their choice for my best proximity and similarity because I was going to pick those two no matter what and I thought they looked so much better on paper than in my head. I had actually forgot about the one they picked for my best closure but I am glad that they picked that one because it just seems obvious but in a good way.  It has a nice subtlety to it that just screams closure to me. I don't think it's necessary to change the top four they chose for me simply because I agree with them for the most part in their decisions and I was intrigued at their perspectives of my work.  It's always fun to be critiqued in some respect because you get a feel of how the viewer feels about your work.  Overall I thought this was a fun and rewarding experience hearing what my classmates felt about my work because I would have never thought of how some of my work would have affected them the way they did. YAY!!!
