3D Wall Composition Critique

I was told that my composition did not really conflict or harmonize but the newspaper looked flat.  There was similarity and proximity between the different pieces I used to make the frame.  There was also some continuance with the ways that the boxes were tumbling and also with the paint all going the same direction.  All of which helped create the image of a square washing machine or a pinball game with squares (that's closure).  They also said that it looked good from a distance and that it needs a border to make it stand out more.  They were split between whether or not it was a good idea to leave the boxes of the frame cut open but they were in agreement about the frame's falling off look.  I think what I will do is make a box that will give the composition more of a 3D effect and perhaps try a smaller border behind it.  My accordion book was not viewed due to laziness, but I think the edges could be cleaner and then maybe it will look better.  I don't really see a problem with my order of the textures or the textures themselves but then again I'm not grading it =]
