My choice for my theme to be the essence of gender. I used a drawing model toy and tried to figure out how I might be able to show what a "women's" pose may look like. What I noticed in a lot of pictures of women in comic books is that the women do some of the very same poses: some look like dancers, some have their arms stretched behind them, and almost every female has their backs arched out perfectly. Well enough of that here are my pics...

I sort of like this one because it's feminine only because I don't think a man would hold his body like this. It looks like she's reaching for something carefully. This pose was based off a minor character from X-Men and she was trying to grab something, but I don't remember the whole story to it.

I like this one because it has a bit of personality to it while still holding a feminine quality. This was based off an anime school girl pose my friend drew a while back and she was doing a curtsee in the drawing. I hate that the door ran in the middle of this picture.

I chose this pose based off of a character from the Avengers called Wasp and she's one of those characters who always has her arms stretched behind her because she's usually flying or hovering around.

I think this one is definitely more like a dancer's pose but I don't really like the pose. It seems too cliche to me but then again it is better than some of my other shots. It was based off of a character from Marvel Nemesis. I can't remember her name but she was a dancer so hey whatever. It also looks similar to the one above this one :)

This pose is a little more neutral to me mainly because I decided to do a bird's eye view, but I based this one off of Ling Xiaoyu, a character from Tekken, and she was yelling out something to the sky.
Reflections:
It was difficult trying to move the toy around to get the exact posing because it does not have much flexibility in its joints, but it was satisfying capturing the essence of a women successfully into an androgynous tool through expressions of the body.
good idea. zoom in a little more. see if you can get the camera to focus on the form instead of the wall...maybe borrow camera from roommate?
